The time has come. We are finally cutting and sewing our donation toppers and I (Bianca) could not be more thrilled! What was once just an idea about a way to give back to my community is finally going to be real.
When we first started Bed Bandits, Patrick and I faced a lot of hard decisions: do we use cheaper materials to get lower price points and higher profits and do we outsource to other countries to save us money? The most critical decision in my opinion: do we use our profits to donate a topper for every third one sold or not? We had many people question if our donation aspect was a good business move. Personally I did not care if it seemed like a good business move or not, because if there is a will there is a way. I started a business because it was my turn to give back and make a difference in other peoples lives.
There are many people who have made this decision before me. They have inspired me to start a company that goes against what countless business experts advise and gives back to the community. I recently stumbled upon Skid Robot, a graffiti artist who is trying to humanize the homeless by painting their dreams. Skid Robot states, "We can no longer neglect the global humanitarian crisis of homelessness and must bring the dialogue to the forefront of public discussion and find a solution to this crisis." Check out some of the amazing art on Skid Robot's Instagram and take a look at this National Art Campaign-
